Statement about the further develpoment of DRS 2006

Postby DRS 2006 - Mark » Thu Jul 14, 2011 1:59 am

Hi guys,

as you may have already seen, there are many things going on at DRS 2006. We are just redesigning and relaunching all our websites. But I know you are basically interested in the further development of DRS 2006 and you may be annoyed about the little progress we made on V3. I already have made a few statements about this matter, but at one point I felt that nothing more will help but to come with results. This has been the main problem I had and I finally came to the conclusion that we won't be able to finish V3 the way I wanted it to be with the rather old coding technologies we were using since the beginning of DRS 2006. Also I did not like that we had to count on the partners which have built our DRS 2006 plugins, because also they had many changes during the years in their companies.

So what will be conclusion of this situation? I decided to skip V3 and that we will have a brand new DRS 2006 version which is based on all new available technologies. Additionally all plugins, encoders etc will be coded by ourselves or they will already be integrated in the new DRS 2006. Also I was able to find programmers with fantastic skills to help me to get this mission accomplished, so the progress will be much faster. At the moment we are very happy with the results. Basically we can do anything ourselves and much better than before.

At this point I can't say much more, but we will get back to you guys as soon as possible so you can test our new basic DRS 2006 version.

We're back and we're on fire!

Of course the interface is now also fully customizable and full screen

Thanks for the info Mark. It does make sense to have new fresh start (and product) and I can't wait to be able to try new version of DRS. Keep us posted.

Hello Mark,

is there a way to just add an autoplay function to the old V3?
I enjoy the function it already has and a autoplay can enable me to use it more.

Thank you and good luck with the V4.

Hi Kris,

well, like I mentioned, this is the problem. We have done it, but it is not really fast or reliable because of the database and some other tech stuff. I can't give it out with a good feeling because we had to do so many workarounds which make it very unstable. With this old technology the many functions will not really be possible. However the new version will be. It will be much more simple to use and we won't have all the hurdles. Till then I can only suggest to use Version 2.2 which is very stable if you follow a few "rules".

Mark, this is very good news. I have owned my 2006 Pro since 2001... thats ten years and have been alternately encouraged and discouraged by what we have read in this column.

I have grown older now and am more patient, but one question. Will the policy of free upgrades for old customers apply to Version 4 as well?

I fully appreciate your problems which caused delays but now that I have retired on Social Security, have no more discretionary income to buy a whole new package.

Best of luck with the new product.

Hi Michael,

we are not sure about this yet. However I am sure we will find a way which will work for all current users.

It a first beta will be ready soon. However it is a totally new development in c#, so you might be astonished - it will be very different. I will say a few things about it:
- It will have an own audio engine, so no more Windows Media Player Issues
- It does not have a traditional database engine anymore and this is *beep* fast
- The encoder (broadcaster) is integrated by default
- Prelistening available
- Full screen - no matter what resolution you have
- All drag and drop
- There will be a store integrated where many additions will available, from sound processing, autopilot to satellite feeds - There will only be one package available and you can add the functions you need, like an App Store

Haha!!! Very good joke!

>es, we will have a beta soon. I am speaking of beta because it will be only one module with a bunch of plugins and options which will follow. I am very exited because this far better than anything I could have imagined.

The new Radio Streamer website will be launched soon and after that we will slowly begin to prepare the relaunch of DRS 2006....finally!!

Thank you for all you guys sticking with us!
