Music Licensing

Postby Stashu » Fri Dec 05, 2008 9:00 pm

I realized too late that I posted this in another section of the forum.
So, heres my problem ...

I use the DRS2006 for Radio Consulting, but would like to go public with an internet station.
I've done some research on BMI and ASCAP reporting, and the monthly fees can get outrageous, even for non-commercial.
One source wanted $10,000 just to sign me up. And around $2,000 a month to be licensed. Non-Commercial. Commercial rates were higher, and included a 'percentage of business' royalty.
This kind of fee structure makes it impossible to think of going on the air.
Any comments appreciated.

If you are based in the USA take a look at LoudCity or SWcast.

For UK users go to Web Radio World.

They are a PPLUK aggregator so have license inclusive packages.

I use them and have had no problems.
